About a year ago I helped clean-out an office an took home a lot of old blueprints, mimeographs and copies of maps. I've been using them to construct my sewing patterns.

This pattern is going to be for pair of woman's slim fitted jeans.

Knits

Here's some knits that I've been working on. Drafting a pattern that fits a woman's curves has been challenging. This is version no. 4, it's close but it shrank a bit too much.

I like the fabric a lot, it's 55% organic cotton and 45% hemp. It has slight roughness to the look of the weave due to the hemp, but it also has a nice feel.







I found this yellow and navy striped fabric at the thrift store. I worked well for making some muslin's before using the hemp fabric.

I've forgotten where I got this from, perhaps from someone else's blog? Regardless it's worth repeating for just the composition of the image alone.

Mens Jeans, model A-2, version 1

I based the pattern for these on the previous men's jeans I made a month or so ago. For this pair I changed the pattern a little and reduced the taper to try and make them a little more straight below the knee. Also shortened the rise and made the top block a more fitted. Too fitted actually, they're a size too tight. For version 2 I'll lengthen the rise back to where it was and loosen things up a bit. The yoke is kind of deeper than modern jeans because it's based on the 1947 501; might shorten it a little. Oh yeah, I had some issues with the tack buttons so this pair has sewn buttons and tack buttons.
